Large Excavator

Features

Both our Hitachi ZX225USR and Liebherr 926 Compact are heavy duty tracked machines, fitted with ROPS and FOPS canopies to forestry standards, allowing it to work in and around standing timber.

The Hitachi ZX225USR is a compact machine with a high wide tracked base allowing it to travel over rough and deep terrain.

The Liebherr 926 compact is on a long carriage base and has blades. The long carriage base allows for more stability in wet ground and on steep slopes.

Both machines are specifically planned to maximise hydraulic oil flow and therefore maximise the power to the attachments they are running.

Uses

The larger excavators are best utilised for larger woody weed and tree removals, with MVS having mulched full olive trees, heavy understory, and midsized trees. Blackberry, Gorse, Broome, Briar Rose and any other light weeds stand no chance against these mulching heads! These mulching heads can easily turn cactus or succulents to a pulp to allow for easy removal and follow up.

Slopes, watercourses, sides of tracks or around obstacles such as rocks and trees are where these machines excel. Set on a large track base, the 225 excavator is purposefully built for tree removal in difficult terrain. Our large excavators have been used previously in many large woody weed clean-ups in highly sensitive areas.

These machines have performed many KMs of roadside pruning as well as pushing back overgrown verges to ensure traffic can pass safely whilst not encroaching on the verge or disturbing the ground.

Woody weeds and regrowth from unwanted trees are readily treated with the mulching head on roadside verges and on many occasions MVS have a cutter to follow behind the machines to clean up cuts on larger branches, ensuring a tidy finish.

MVS have a range of further attachments for the Hitachi ZX225USR, including a vertical grab. The vertical grab can either cut off and hold the trees or pull them out of the ground, roots and all. It can then hold the removed tree and carry it to its final destination! The attachment can also reach up and “dismantle” trees ready for processing through one of our grinding/mulching options or stack them for burning. This excavator is best used for large scale woody weed removal, mid to large civil jobs or orchard removal.

MVS can fit our large 25 tonne excavator with a ripper pick to rip out stumps, this pick is designed to rip down each side of the stump to dislodge the roots and stump. Ripping stumps is occasionally the preferred option for stump removal to try and reduce the number of roots that are left in the ground on sites.

Parrot beak shears can be fitted to our excavator to reduce the size of stumps or timber to be either mulched/ground up or to allow for efficient loading of the material. The shears can turn even the longest timber into manageable lumps. Shearing material with our excavator thoroughly enhances the output of our tracked grinder when processing tree waste into mulch. The shears are also used to turn larger timber into manageable pieces and are even capable of reducing it down enough to turn it into firewood.
