13 Tonne Medium Excavator

Features

Our 13 Tonne Excavator uses pumps to create extra flow and increases the power of the mulching head. It’s equipped with a ROPS/FOPS canopy at forestry standards for working in and around trees. Its limited tail swing provides increased access into tight areas.

The excavator can be fitted with a felling grab, vertical grab or Gierking GMT 050 felling head.

Uses

This 13 Tonne medium sized excavator is great for undertaking mid-sized vegetation clearing, clearing along sides of tracks and reaching in and around trees and other obstacles to tidy understory. It’s perfect for woody weed control along water courses, tight areas, and along tight fire tracks to push back unwanted vegetation. The excavator arm can reach between standing vegetation and target specific species/vegetation needing to be removed preventing unnecessary and unwanted damage to the remaining vegetation.

The vertical tree grab/felling head is used to cut and carry or snap and hold the trees. The grab can cut through trees up to 500mm in diameter. It can then hold the trees upright and carry or place these trees in a set location for further processing. This grab can also pull trees from the ground, roots and all, if full removal is required at civil sites or orchards.

The Gierkink GMT 050 is a felling head with a chainsaw and is used to fell trees and cut them into sections if required. Easily fitted to the excavator, the Gierkink has eliminated the need for a chainsaw operator in the removal of trees up to 500mm in diameter, reducing the risk of injuries and saving costs for the customer.

Any trees and slash left behind after these process are dealt with by one of our chipping or mulching options. MVS also provide swab poison services if needed or can follow with one of our stump grinders to further process stumps left behind.
